Privacy Policy

Your personal records are stored locally. Optional features can contact other services.

Goldenseal does not operate an account or cloud service for your personal records. If you enable Stargazing in Thyme, Open-Meteo receives approximate coordinates and your IP address for weather requests. Exports you choose, system backups, local app sharing, and system features can also make data available outside an app’s local container. External links and BrainShot catalog downloads create web requests as described below.

This policy applies to the following apps published under the Goldenseal brand:

The apps have no account system or developer-operated cloud storage for your personal records. BrainShot can download catalog files when you choose to import a QR code or link. In this policy, “stored by the app” means stored locally on your device. It does not mean the developer receives or collects that data.

Some features are available on only one platform. A description of a feature applies only where the app you use includes it.

Data stored on your device

Thyme

Thyme stores information you create or change while using it, including protocol and routine schedules, dose and activity history, reminder settings, and information used by its plant care, microgreen, pineapple, and garden timing features.

Morning stores routine steps and times. Rest stores timer sessions and whether you confirm completing a rest. Optional self-reported energy ratings from 1 to 5 and their context, and personal notes attached to reference schedule sessions, are stored locally. Sunset stores location and reminder settings for local sunset calculations. Stargazing stores settings, bedtime, location, and the latest forecast locally.

In separate iOS development builds, Meditation stores imported audio, thumbnails, playback ranges, playlists, favorites, goals, and session history locally. These files and settings may be included in system backups. History exports can include recording names and practice times, but do not include audio, images, or file paths. Meditation is not currently available on Android.

Personal notes can be edited or deleted in the app. Morning, Rest, energy ratings, personal notes, and your other local history are not sent to the weather provider.

BrainShot

BrainShot stores cleanse plans and progress, user-created and imported catalogs, shot names and recipes, shot timing history, pantry and ingredient stock information, freshness and supply details, shopping and store preferences, garden season dates, reminder settings, and other app preferences.

How the apps use this data

The apps use local data only to provide the features you request: validate and store catalogs you choose to import, calculate schedules and shopping needs, show history and progress, manage pantry or growing timelines, schedule reminders and alarms, and create exports you initiate.

Thyme weather and location

Stargazing is optional. When you enable it, Thyme uses a recent approximate location while the app is open to request a forecast directly from Open-Meteo over HTTPS. Coordinates are rounded to two decimal places. Thyme does not request background location access. Sunset calculates sunset times on your device without sending its location to a weather service.

Open-Meteo receives the coordinates and your IP address. The request does not include your history, personal notes, energy ratings, routines, or bedtime. While Stargazing is enabled, forecasts can be updated when you open the app, change its settings, or choose Refresh forecast.

According to Open-Meteo’s privacy policy for its free API, the provider may keep IP addresses for server maintenance and abuse prevention, and webserver logs containing coordinates for troubleshooting. The provider states that these logs are deleted after 90 days. Goldenseal does not receive or control those logs.

You can turn off Stargazing to stop future weather requests and cancel its pending reminder. You can also revoke location permission in system settings. Turning the feature off or deleting Thyme does not erase logs already held by Open-Meteo.

Local sharing between Thyme and BrainShot

On iOS, Thyme can write a small microgreen batch snapshot to an Apple App Group shared only by Thyme and BrainShot on the same device. BrainShot reads this snapshot to estimate when selected sprouts will be ready and to avoid asking you to record the same growing dates twice.

The snapshot can contain a batch identifier, plant variety, growing stage, dates for sowing and expected harvest, actual harvest or end dates, and whether a batch was discarded. It does not contain Thyme dose history, BrainShot cleanse plans, pantry data, or general app settings. The data flow is one-way from Thyme to BrainShot and does not send data to Goldenseal.

This local sharing is not available in Thyme for Android.

What Goldenseal does not collect or share

  • No developer data collection: the apps do not transmit your app data, usage data, or device identifiers to Goldenseal.
  • No accounts: there is no sign-up, login, or user profile.
  • No analytics SDK or crash reporting: the apps contain no analytics SDK or third-party crash-reporting service. The weather provider’s technical logs are described above.
  • No advertising: the apps contain no ads or advertising SDKs.
  • No tracking: the apps do not track you across apps or websites.
  • No sale of app data: Goldenseal does not sell your app data. Optional weather requests send coordinates and IP to Open-Meteo as described above. Exports, backups, system features, and catalog downloads are described below.

Exports and device backups

Exports you request

Thyme can export the history currently selected in its History screen as a JSON file. The export excludes personal note text by default. If the selected history contains notes, you can choose Include personal notes before exporting. This option is off by default for each new export. When included, notes contain their text, dates, and links to the relevant schedule round. Only include them if you want the export recipient to receive that information. Depending on the selected history, it can include Morning events, Rest sessions, energy ratings, and Rest plan settings with local identifiers used to distinguish plan revisions and devices. BrainShot can export a diagnostic snapshot containing selected active-plan, pantry, and preference data. These snapshots are not complete backups. BrainShot also offers a backup file containing catalogs, plans, shot history, pantry, selected preferences, and consumption records for restoration in an up-to-date version of BrainShot.

BrainShot can also import and export catalog files. When you choose a file to import, BrainShot reads it and stores the catalog locally on your device. BrainShot does not upload imported files. When you export a catalog, you choose where the file is saved.

You choose where an exported file is saved. The destination may be local storage or a file provider you use. After export, the file is controlled by you and by the destination provider, not by Goldenseal. Neither app uploads an export on its own.

Catalog QR codes and links

When you choose a catalog QR code or link, BrainShot downloads and imports the selected catalog, replacing the previous catalog. Imports from a local catalog file show a preview before installation. The host receives ordinary request information, including your IP address and the requested file address. Catalog hosting providers process this request information to deliver the file. External catalog hosts apply their own privacy policies. BrainShot does not attach your plans, pantry, history, or settings to the request and does not use tracking cookies for downloads.

The QR scanner requests camera access only when you open it. Camera frames and QR images selected from Photos are processed on your device and are not uploaded.

System backups

Your operating system may include local app data in a device backup or device-to-device transfer according to your platform and backup settings. These services are operated by Apple, Google, or another provider you choose. Goldenseal cannot access, restore, or delete those backup copies.

Notifications, system features, and external links

Reminders, notifications, Live Activities, and alarms are scheduled and processed locally. Their content may be visible on your lock screen or to people who can access your device. You can control notification visibility in system settings.

When you deliberately run a BrainShot Siri Shortcut or App Intent, BrainShot provides the requested shot name, date, ingredients, instructions, or progress to the relevant Apple system feature so it can answer your request. Goldenseal does not receive that information.

The apps contain links to this privacy policy and to source or reference websites. For these external websites, a network request occurs after you choose to open a link, using your browser or another app. Catalog imports instead download the selected file within BrainShot as described above. The destination site receives normal web request information and applies its own privacy policy. The Goldenseal apps do not attach your locally stored app data to those links.

Deleting your data

Goldenseal has no server account and no remote copy of your app data, so there is no server-side account deletion request to make. You can remove records through deletion or reset controls available in each app, or delete the app to remove its local container from your device.

Deleting a record or an app does not delete files you previously exported or copies already held in a system backup. This also applies to earlier backups of personal notes. Open-Meteo’s log retention is described in the weather section. On iOS, the shared Thyme-to-BrainShot microgreen snapshot may remain available to the other app while either app using the shared group remains installed.

This website

Goldenseal.app has no analytics, advertising, forms, or cookies set by Goldenseal. Our website hosting provider processes ordinary web request information, including your IP address and browser details, to deliver the site.

Children

Thyme and BrainShot are intended for adults and are not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with an updated date.
